Saravana Bhavan

this is where Chennai’s middle class takes their lunch. Saravana Bhavan is a restaurant chain that has about twenty locations in Chennai (and surprisingly quite a few franchises around the globe). the two places i have been were clean, filled with locals and the food was good. there also was a bakery attached, so dessert was not a problem.
so, if you are in Chennai and want to avoid greasy hotels this is the place to go.

Kuala Lumpur has a Saravana Bhavan! i have to admit that i enjoyed their Indian Indian food more than the Malaysian Indian food in other restaurants. not only more choice for me being a vegetarian, but the taste is also different. i have the feeling that many places do not use ghee for cooking (as in Europe).
Kuala Lumpur’s Saravana Bhavan is located a little north of the Masjid India.
